High-Efficiency Enclosed Biogas Flares: The Gold Standard in Combustion

RELIABLE GAS COMBUSTION FOR OPERATIONAL SAFETY

Why Material Quality Matters in Biogas Flaring

Biogas is an aggressive medium.

It contains moisture, hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), carbon dioxide, and trace contaminants that create a highly corrosive environment — especially under high-temperature flaring conditions.

In such conditions, material selection is not a cosmetic decision. It is a safety decision.

Many flare systems on the market use brass, aluminum, or mixed alloys in critical components to reduce manufacturing costs. While this may lower the initial purchase price, it often results in:

  • Accelerated corrosion

  • Structural weakening over time

  • Increased maintenance requirements

  • Reduced operational lifetime

  • Higher long-term replacement costs

  • Potential safety risks

The Aqualimpia Approach

All Aqualimpia flares are manufactured entirely from high-grade stainless steel. We do not use brass or aluminum components in critical structural or process elements.

Stainless steel provides:

  • Superior corrosion resistance in H₂S-rich environments

  • Excellent thermal resistance under continuous flame operation

  • Long-term structural integrity

  • Reduced maintenance interventions

  • Extended operational lifespan

  • ATEX compliant equipment

This engineering philosophy prioritizes durability, safety, and lifecycle cost efficiency over short-term cost reduction.

Proven Worldwide Reliability

To date, more than 1,200 stainless steel flare units have been supplied worldwide, operating in a wide range of climatic conditions — from tropical regions to temperate industrial zones.

This installed base reflects not only production capacity, but long-term field-proven performance.

Engineering Quality Over Cost Compromise

In biogas systems, reliability is not optional.
Material integrity directly affects plant safety, environmental compliance, and operational continuity.

When environmental regulations, community relations, and operational excellence are the priority, Enclosed Flare Systems (Ground Flares) are the definitive choice. Unlike standard open flares, our enclosed units perform combustion within a protected, insulated chamber, offering a "hidden flame" solution that meets the strictest global emission standards.

The Advantage of Enclosed Combustion

Our enclosed flares are engineered to provide maximum thermal performance while maintaining a low profile at your facility.

  • Invisible & Silent Operation: By containing the combustion process, our flares eliminate light pollution (no visible flame) and significantly reduce noise levels, making them ideal for projects near urban areas or sensitive communities.

  • Controlled Emissions: The insulated combustion chamber allows for precise control of the air-to-fuel ratio and temperature. This results in a destruction removal efficiency (DRE) of up to 99.9% for methane and NMHCs, ensuring compliance with the most rigorous environmental permits.

  • Superior Safety & Resilience: Designed to handle high-flow surges, these units feature advanced internal monitoring that prevents flashbacks and manages thermal stress, even during 24/7 emergency operation.

Reliable Gas Combustion for Operational Safety

The operation of biogas and sewage treatment plants often requires the safe combustion of excess gas—whether during the start-up phase, scheduled maintenance, or unexpected downstream equipment failure. The Aqualimpia  AQL-II Series offers a fully automated, safe, and low-emission flaring solution. Engineered for durability, its robust design ensures a long service life, minimal maintenance requirements, and constant operational availability.

Fully Automated Control & Monitoring

The AQL-II operates with complete autonomy. Upon receiving a start or stop signal, the integrated Siemens PLC manages the ignition sequence and valve positioning simultaneously. For continuous safety, the flame is monitored in real-time by a high-precision UV sensor. The system’s current status is displayed via intuitive control lamps on the switch cabinet and seamlessly reported to the central plant controller.

Technical Flexibility & Customization

As standard, the AQL-II features a weather-resistant IP54 switch cabinet with a Siemens PLC. Depending on your specific process requirements, we offer several configurations:

  • Burner Options: Choice between standard diffusion burners or high-performance injection burners.
  • Control Systems: Option to employ an automatic burner control system.
  • Enhanced Accessories: Can be equipped with pressure control, pilot burner systems, electrically heated fittings, or temperature monitoring.

German-Quality Engineering

To withstand corrosive environments, all Aqualimpia AQL-II flares are constructed entirely from high-grade stainless steel and fitted with premium industrial components.
