Aqualimpia Engineering (AQL) has been at the forefront of waste-to-energy innovation for over 30 years. We specialize in transforming organic waste and wastewater into sustainable energy, converting environmental liabilities into profitable and reliable energy assets through high-efficiency, tailor-made solutions.
For the past two decades, our core business has focused on designing and constructing specialized systems for tropical climates. We have mastered the engineering discipline of “tropicalizing” advanced technology — successfully bridging high-end German engineering standards with the operational realities of the regions where our plants are built.
What differentiates AQL is not only design capability — it is full technical integration.
Engineering is not a promise. It is a discipline built on experience, precision, and continuous improvement

Why Aqualimpia?
Whether you need to recover energy from poultry litter or optimize a municipal wastewater plant, AQL combines 30 years of global experience with localized construction strategies to deliver the highest ROI in the industry. We deliver more than just a biogas plant—we deliver a reliable, tailor-made energy future.
Everything starts with a solid foundation. We manage or supervise the earthworks to ensure the site meets the exact geometric and structural specifications required for optimal biodigester performance. (Excavación y preparación del terreno)
The entire lagoon is lined with a high-quality HDPE geomembrane to ensure complete protection against infiltration into the subsoil. This impermeable barrier safeguards groundwater resources and guarantees environmental compliance from the very beginning of operation.
In one of the images, a lateral agitator is already installed, showing the integration of mechanical components within the lined structure. It is important to note that once the lagoon is completed, it will be covered with a gas-tight membrane roof. After this stage, the bottom liner is no longer visible or accessible. For this reason, the correct and professional installation of the HDPE membrane at this phase is critical — it must be executed flawlessly, as post-installation inspection becomes extremely limited.
While the civil structure takes shape, we integrate the core technology: mixing systems, and gas management units. This is where our engineering expertise ensures all components work in perfect harmony. From the final sealing to the first flame. We conduct rigorous pressure tests, system commissioning, and staff training to ensure the biodigester is 100% ready for long-term, sustainable operation.
What you see here is not merely a covered lagoon. It is a fully engineered industrial anaerobic digester designed for long-term, continuous, and reliable biogas production.
The reinforced perimeter structure, the high-integrity lining system, and the professionally installed double-membrane gas-tight roof transform the excavation into a controlled biological reactor. Every component — including gas handling, safety systems, pressure control, and mixing technology — is designed to operate under industrial standards.
This is a closed, controlled digestion environment where biogas is produced permanently and consistently. The system is engineered to avoid operational interruptions, minimize downtime, and ensure stable methane generation throughout the year.
Integrated industrial safety features include:
Controlled gas storage and pressure regulation
Overpressure and vacuum protection systems
Secure anchoring and structural stability
Proper sealing to prevent emissions and infiltration
The result is not a simple storage basin with a cover — it is a high-efficiency energy production unit designed for continuous operation, long service life, and dependable performance.
Reliable biogas production requires engineering — not improvisation.
